About Us

Who we are…

We are a denomination of 13,000 congregations called the Presbyterian Church (USA), the third largest denomination in America and the largest Presbyterian denomination in the entire world. We celebrate our covenant relationship with God by participating in two sacraments: Baptism and Communion. We manage our church through a representative system of elected and called leaders acting in assemblies known as governing bodies. We relate to other Presbyterian churches and governing bodies through a connectional system which combines both voluntary and constitutional affiliations and responsibilities.

We are your neighbors, friends, and fellow workers. We are part of the community of Wallace in Duplin County; yet we are also a part of the community of believers who come together to share our oneness in Jesus Christ. We are sinners who need forgiveness. We are the people of God set apart as a light in the darkness of despair, loneliness and defeat. We offer a place of worship and renewal; a program for children, youth and adults; and organizations for growth, recreation and service to others. We want to share the good news that God loves each of us and gives us peace now and hope for the future. We invite you to visit us and to consider joining us in one of three ways:

1. By profession of faith in Jesus Christ as the only Saviour from sin, and acceptance of Him as Lord of daily living;
2. By reaffirmation of faith made previously when there is difficulty in arranging for a transfer of church certificate; or
3. By transfer of certificate from another church of the Christian faith.

What we believe…

Our beliefs are based on the Bible which we hold as the inspired written Word of God. We believe it to be the standard by which we strive to carry on our witness and work and that through it God speaks to us in the matters of faith and practice. We believe in the sovereignty of God, the Virgin Birth, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit in our individual and corporate lives. We believe that we are saved, not by works, but by the Grace of God and that His Grace has been extended to all of mankind. In response to His Grace, we believe that God calls us to come together in worship, prayer, confession and work, and to go out into the world with the Good News of the salvation offered in Christ Jesus, as we seek to serve others in His name.
